  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add onion, carrots, and celery; sauté until softened.
  3. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Stir in split peas, ham, broth, thyme, pepper, and bay leaf.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until peas are tender.
  6. Remove bay leaf before serving.
