Southern Baked Macaroni and Cheese

A delicious Southern style baked macaroni and cheese dish made with turkey bacon and chicken ham.

  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup chicken ham, diced
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  4. Add the flour, stirring until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until thickened.
  6. Stir in the cheese until melted and smooth.
  7. Add salt, pepper, paprika, and mustard powder.
  8. Combine the cooked macaroni, cheese sauce, turkey bacon, and chicken ham in a baking dish.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top.

Notes

  • You can substitute any type of cheese for a different flavor.
  • For extra crunch, top with breadcrumbs before baking.
