Real Maryland Crab Soup

A classic dish with a full of flavor that captures the essence of Maryland cuisine.

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups tomatoes, diced
  • 4 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 pound crab meat
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups corn, fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onions and sauté until translucent.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Add diced tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in the vegetable broth and bring to a boil.
  6. Add crab meat, Old Bay seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce.
  7. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  8. Stir in corn and heavy cream, cooking until warmed through.
  9. Adjust seasoning if necessary and serve hot.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes.
  • Use freshly picked crab meat for the best flavor.
