  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In another bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  5. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently. Pat into a circle about 1 inch thick.
  7. Cut into triangles and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth and drizzle over the warm scones.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can sprinkle some cinnamon sugar on top before baking.
  • Make sure to use pure pumpkin puree for the best results.
