  • 1 pound fresh green beans
  • 6 slices turkey bacon
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain.
  3. In a skillet, cook the turkey bacon until crispy, then remove and crumble.
  4. Sauté the mushrooms in the dripping from the bacon until golden.
  5. Add flour and cook for 1 minute.
  6. Whisk in chicken broth and cream; simmer until thickened.
  7. Combine green beans, bacon, and mushroom sauce in a baking dish.
  8. Top with crispy fried onions.
  9. Bake for 25 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

  • This casserole can be made ahead of time and baked before serving.
  • Feel free to substitute regular bacon if preferred.
