Homemade Chocolate Cake

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes on medium speed.
  5. Stir in the boiling water until well combined.
  6. Pour the batter into prepared cake pans.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then remove from pans to cool completely.

Notes

  • Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature before mixing.
  • You can use coffee instead of boiling water for a richer flavor.
