Greek Chicken Gyros

Delicious and juicy Greek chicken gyros that you can easily make at home.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cup tzatziki sauce
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 large tomato, diced
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken thighs with olive oil, garlic, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper for at least 1 hour.
  2. Preheat the grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook the marinated chicken for about 5-7 minutes on each side until cooked through.
  4. Remove the chicken from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  5. Warm the pita breads on the grill or in a skillet.
  6. Assemble the gyros by placing sliced chicken, tzatziki sauce, lettuce, tomato, and onion in the pita.
  7. Wrap the pita around the fillings and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add feta cheese on top.
  • Serve with additional tzatziki on the side.
