  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel candies, unwrapped
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Stir in vanilla and egg.
  4. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  5. Spread half of the batter into the prepared pan.
  6. In a saucepan, heat caramel candies and heavy cream over low heat until melted. Pour over the batter in the pan.
  7. Drop remaining batter by spoonfuls over the caramel layer.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let cool before cutting into squares.
